We had the pleasure of entertaining, educating and enthusing 18 children who were visiting POWIIS from St Christopher’s International Primary School (SCIPS). They were mixed with our present Year 7 groups and sent off to do one session of Art, Design & Technology (DT) and Science each. They drew a 3D picture of their hands in Art, created a key ring using the laser cutter in DT and did a variety of experiments in Science earning them a badge and certificate.
Some of the cast of the Little Shop of Horrors performed in the La Fete de la Musique Music Day organized by Alliance Française De Penang. Tickets are selling fast for the show and there are limited seats available. For more details, please call +604-8689999 or email [email protected].
Thank you so much to all participants for being such a supportive audience and a special thanks to the brave volunteers for presenting. We hope all of you found the event useful and enjoyable both in terms of the innovative ideas presented also the chance to mix and share ideas with teachers from around Penang. We really hope this is the start of lots more collaboration between the schools as it is clear we have a lot to learn from each other and there is a lot of very exciting teaching going on. Hope to see more at the next Penang TeachMeet!
Students study the design and manufacture process through a range of enjoyable projects in year 10 to enhance their skill set and subject knowledge. These projects involve wood, metal and plastics to prepare them for a major project in year 11.
Our Design & Technology Department has an extensive range of tools, machinery and equipment including 3D printers, a new CNC router, laser cutters and a fully functioning large workshop and design studio. We also have technical and teaching support to assist lessons, clubs and activities.
We are confident and proud to say that here at POWIIS, we are nurturing the world’s future architects, designers and engineers. This year our students have yet again created excellent products and design portfolios and we now wish them luck as they head towards their final IGCSE examination.
