POWIIS’ first ever Dance Tuesday Lunchtime Concert (TLC) entertained the audience, as the students performed in solos, duets, trios and even quartets! There was a variety of genres present, ranging from hip hop to jazz and ballet to Korean Pop. This also served as a prequel to a POWIIS Dance Competition that might be happening sometime in the near future…
The visiting students from Panyathip International School enchanted the audience with a lovely traditional dance. Accompanied by an informative slideshow on the history and delights of Laos, the performance was certainly a success!
The annual cross country event was held for the first time in the Botanical Gardens. The morning kicked off with a vigorous warm-up session by Warrior Fitness & Adventure. The event had a junior and senior competitive run, as well as a school-wide fun run. The students enjoyed the change of scenery, and certainly started their weekend off with a bang!
The year 11 parents evening event was held in conjunction with the launch of the Sixth form prospectus as well as explanations about new and current developments in the sixth form. We hope the night was an informative one for all!
Love – and the smell of cookies – is in the air! The students enjoyed making Valentine’s Day cookies and being creative with their decorations.
The lunar new year may be over but the spirit of Chinese new year remains strong amongst our enthusiastic students! As part of the Chinese week celebrations, we had a number of students compete in the Mandarin singing competition. What a treat!
POWIIS welcomed 6 exchange students from Laos this week. The students, originally from Panyathip International School, will be here until the 24th of February. Hopefully POWIIS gives them a short experience of what Penang has to offer!
The young members of the junior boys’ basketball team certainly seemed to enjoy learning how to control the ball the right way during their after-school activity today!
POWIIS and Botanica CT hosted an inter-school X-Country for students from POWIIS, Dalat International School, Straits International School and Uplands School. The event was a huge success and this was entirely down to the support from the past and present Junior Sports Leadership Awards students and some very helpful sixth form students. Thank you to everyone who took part and supported!
