FOBISIA Swimming & Athletics

Our first time ever at the FOBISIA Games in Phuket!

Six schools were involved, and our students excelled in swimming, winning 20 of the 40 races and coming in at second place in 8 other races. Congratulations to Debbie Low, Zhao Liang Teh, Clark Tu, Peace Lee, and Angus Lee, who all did a brilliant job.

Swimming was then followed by track and field in the afternoon, and we won 15 medals in athletics. Jaseem Sarmad Al-Abaichy of Year 9 showed immense courage and commitment, and won five medals.

Congratulations to all our POWIIS athletes, and good luck!

Audition for Next Musical

Auditions underway for our next musical… There was plenty of interest to join us on our journey to the yellow brick road!

Elevate Education Study Skills Workshop

After the half term break, POWIIS got off to a brisk start. The Year 10s and 11s attended study skills workshops organised by Elevate Education, and were introduced to more effective working techniques, to enhance their progress by ‘working smarter’.

Diwali Celebration

Students are given the opportunity to wear ‘House Colours’ today rather than their school uniform to celebrate Diwali – the festival of lights. They enjoyed a Diwali inspired lunch in the cafeteria, while some Year 12s combined chemistry and Diwali by making a Rangoli pattern using a polymer slime.

To all families and friends of POWIIS celebrating Diwali this year, we wish you a very happy holiday!

Rangoli Making

Students and staff worked together to create Rangoli – a colourful and beautiful art in conjunction with the Diwali celebration.

Staff Edition Tuesday Lunchtime Concert

Today’s staff edition Tuesday Lunchtime Concert featured both academic and non-academic staff including the CEO of POWIIS, Ms Elysia Ong, Ms Nurul Hasniza, Mr Peter Kee, Ms Lucy Decoursey, Mr Alan Reeves, Mr Dylan Boyd, Mr Ronald de Leon, Mr John Cranwell and Mr Kirk Green, accompanied by POWIIS orchestra and band. The audience were certainly entertained by the great performance from them!

Open Day

POWIIS welcomed prospective families to our Open Day last Saturday to explore the campus and state of the art facilities. Families took a tour of the school, led by the students and attended an informative presentation by the Principal, Mr Simon Leese. We are looking forward to seeing new faces very soon!
