We are delighted to share the winners of the COBIS Student Achievement awards for this year, 2021!
Joshua Velten (Year 13) for Significant Contribution to the Wider Life of the School: Joshua is an excellent role model, continually encouraging and motivating other students while maintaining high academic standards. Well done in winning the inaugural inter-school Race4Good tournament, starting up the Eco committee and leading the Humanitarian committee in various fundraising events.
Yong Shuen Sho (Year 13) for Significant Contribution to the Wider Life of the School: Yong Shuen is a role model and has supported younger musicians in orchestra and choir since she joined POWIIS as a music scholar. She has always been highly motivated and active in numerous local musical bodies such as the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and is also a part of Malaysian Conductors’ Circle. After graduation, she will now pursue her studies at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, part of the National University of Singapore, having won full scholarship.
Ao Tahara (Year 11) for Significant Contribution to the Wider Community: Ao is a hardworking and highly motivated student who has more recently shown a commitment towards the community while achieving the highest grades academically, especially throughout this challenging year. She organised a fundraiser for first responders in Penang as well as leading the school’s Leo Club committee. She is a member of the student council and is an excellent role model and mentor to other students.
