James O’Donnell – Deputy Principal (Curriculum)

POWIIS Primary is a special place to me because of its rich diversity and the sense that we are building something uniquely special in this part of the world.

My role this year is Deputy Principal, with responsibility for curriculum. My intention is to work with teachers to deliver an engaging and challenging learning experience for all of our students. We have excellent teachers who will use their creativity and passion to make learning meaningful and fun. I have taught at large, prestigious International schools in China and Singapore, I will bring this experience to help us achieve this. We are all learners and I have recently completed my Masters Degree in Education from the University of Bath, UK. Outside of school, I love sport and cooking which is ideal as Penang is a wonderful place to try new food. I enjoy seeing my family at POWIIS, Mrs O’Donnell is the librarian and my two children attend school too. For us all, POWIIS is an important part of our lives and we feel a valuable part of this growing community.
