Meet our Drama Subject Leader – Mr Ryan Sherwin

POWIIS Primary is special to me because we are a school at the start of creating something wonderful and lasting. Together, the children, parents and teachers are working to make something very special.

After qualifying from Queen Mary University of London with a degree in drama, I spent five years performing across the UK with various theatre and film companies. Drama, performance and public speaking are areas that I am extremely passionate about. As drama subject leader, I am working closely with the head of curriculum to implement performance of all kinds, into the curriculum. We want all of our pupils to be confident in performing and speaking publicly. The school did incredibly well last year to produce three live performances with the Year 2 and 4 productions, and the Early Years nativity. Penang is the perfect place for me as it presents cultural arts around every corner! I enjoy collaborating with different artists around the island and hiking up Penang’s beautiful hills on the weekend.
