POWIIS A-Level Results 2020

7 September 2020

Our Principal, Mrs Dinah Hawtree’s congratulatory message to the students,

‘My congratulations to all our POWIIS A level graduates who, despite the unusual challenges this year has presented, have once again achieved an excellent set of results. An astonishing 80% of all the grades awarded were B or above, with almost 60% awarded A*/A, and nearly a quarter awarded the top A* grade. I’d like to extend extra special congratulations to Hannah Rose Shu Wei Lee and Nicholas Gerard Suresh, both of whom achieved A* grades in all 4 of their subjects – a truly outstanding achievement.

It has been an incredibly unusual time for all of us, and none more so than for our A level students. They have worked diligently throughout their final two years of school only to be denied the opportunity to take examinations this summer. We are aware that, for a small number of students, the way that the exam boards have calculated the grades this year has left them disappointed, and we are exploring all avenues to support these students as they move forward to university and the world beyond POWIIS.

My advice to all our graduates would be that, although A level grades are important, they do not define you. It is how you deal with successes and disappointments, how you respond to challenges, how you treat others, and the impact that you eventually have on the world, that will define you. We will follow all of your journeys with great interest, and we know that you will do your school, your families, and yourselves, proud.’
