Little Green Fingers: Last week a group of boarding students went green! We took everyday recycling items such as tin cans, plastic water bottles and milk cartons to make plant holders for their boarding rooms and for teachers’ classrooms. The tin cans also double up as excellent desk tidies as well!
The students completed the entire cycle of splitting the plastic bottles into two plant pots; top and bottom. They decorated their can covers in various designs and then went on to plant up a mixture of hardy Malaysian favourites: Aloe Vera, Spider Plant, Devils Ivy (named because it grows so quickly), Asean Oregano, Inch Plant ( a purple variety of SpiderWort that has leaves every inch along its stem and a few others that we have yet to learn the names of.
