Welcome Concert for our new Principal

The Music Scholars of POWIIS had the opportunity today to perform in a welcome concert for our new Principal, Mrs Dinah Hawtree and her husband, Robert, at the Auditorium. The scholars found this occasion to be particularly special as this is the first time they perform for our new Principal. Our youngest scholar Tiffany Ang (Yr 7) opened the concert with “The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins. Tiffany was followed by seasoned harpist Chew Yi (Year 9) performing two pieces, Perpetuum Mobile III by Tailleferre and Tournier’s Lolita La Danseuse. These two immaculately performed pieces were followed by the technically challenging Chopin’s Etude Op. 10, no. 1 with Joshua Lau (Year 12) on the piano, which he performed with aplomb. The concert concluded with a duet of John Rutter’s Angel’s Carols sung by Carine Soon (Year 13) and Caron Soon (Year 9).
