Year 13 A Level Music Student – Yong Shuen Sho

14 April 2021

A huge congratulation to our Year 13 A level music student, Yong Shuen Sho who recently obtained a four-year full scholarship to pursue Bachelor of Music, majoring in oboe performance at the prestigious Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Singapore. Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music is part of the National University of Singapore (world university ranking of 11th). The highly equipped conservatory has offered her a massive scholarship worth 132,000 Singapore Dollar per year (approximately 1.5 million Malaysian Ringgit for four years).

Yong Shuen joined POWIIS as one of the music scholars at the start of Year 12 and has shown tremendous progress all round as a musician, both in performance and academic work. Her consistent hard work, determination and resilience will see her embark on an exciting musical journey this August as she joins other music scholars from around the world. We would like to also congratulate her oboe teacher, Mr Lee Chun Howe, who incidentally is a professional oboist and her Mathematics teacher here at POWIIS.
