Year 3 Topic Learning – Kimono

Year 3 have been learning about how clothes became more fashionable with the introduction of dyeing. Threads could be dyed to change colour and then woven to create patterns. Threads could also be used to embroider beautiful designs on the material. In Japan, Kimonos were worn by all until 1856. They were made using a range of simple fabrics to ones with very elaborate patterns. Year 3 have designed kimonos thinking about colour and pattern.
